Styled Out West, led by Principal Designer Jenna Maenhout, is seeking an Associate Designer to support interior design projects in the Greater Seattle Area. This is a 1099 independent contractor position, offering flexibility to work on a per-project, as-needed basis. If you have a passion for technical design, thrive in a collaborative environment, and aspire to grow into a lead designer role, this opportunity could be perfect for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently produce field measurements

  • Create CAD, Revit, or SketchUp drawings for space planning and as-built drawings

  • Support Jenna with creative storage solutions, mood boards, furniture/material sourcing, and procurement for both construction and furnishing projects.

  • Maintain strong verbal and written communication skills and conduct yourself professionally in front of clients and on job sites.

  • Embrace Styled Out West’s design aesthetic while contributing your unique perspective.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Location: Must reside in the Greater Seattle/Tacoma area and be willing to travel (projects range from Lynwood to Gig Harbor and surrounding areas).

  • Flexibility: Available to work as-needed with appropriate notice.

  • Technology: Proficient in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Chat) and CAD/Revit software.

  • Physical Activity: Able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with installs, if necessary.

  • Experience: 1-3 years in a design firm or similar role, with strong knowledge of trade resources and furniture sourcing.

  • Independent Work: Reliable transportation, laptop, and cell phone (Apple products preferred) for remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SketchUp, DesignFiles, Canva, or Pinterest.

  • Familiarity with Dubsado or client/project management tools.

  • Experience managing trade accounts.

Personal Attributes

  • Positive, uplifting attitude and excellent teamwork skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.

  • Self-starter who takes initiative and finds solutions without requiring micromanagement.

  • Professional demeanor with clients, vendors, and team members.

While this role is ideal for someone who currently supports other designers and has the flexibility to manage multiple projects, I envision this position growing into a lead designer role within Styled Out West, with potential full-time opportunities as the business evolves.
