Dream Home Inspiration: Master Bedroom
I'm back, after a week-long hiatus to enjoy time with friends at Lake Chelan. It was so amazing to unplug and spend the day floating in the lake, playing with the kiddos and figuring out what kind of cocktail to drink next. I'll write up a post on our trip very soon in case you are looking for some inspiration on Pacific Northwest getaways.
As promised, I am sharing all my inspiration for our dream home remodel room by room and today is the Master Bedroom! This is one room I'm most excited for {let's be real, I'm excited for all of them} as I was never in love with our old bedroom. It wasn't a huge space, so it was difficult to style with a King bed due to space restrictions. Our new room will be about 14 feet wide, which is a large space, leaving room for different nooks throughout the room. We will be doing white walls throughout the entire house, so I want to add in warmth and texture by adding area rugs, rattan shades, and decorative pillows.
I already had purchased these side tables {they are actually dressers} from Wayfair after seeing them on Instagram and I knew they would set the tone for the room and really anchor the space. They are so unique, and I love the larger scale {they also make actual side table size, which I have linked below). I don't like to be cookie cutter, so doing dressers rather than side tables will fill up the length of the wall and not overpower the room.
Opposite our bed and side tables, I want to do a desk and sitting area. I already had purchased this desk from World Market before moving out so I am so excited to accessorize it. The wood elements will bring in a nice natural feel to the room. For the sitting area, I want a large chair that can also be used as a rocker when we have baby #2 {we are starting to think about that now that Tayler is getting older - more on that later}. I have never felt as if my bedroom was a retreat and this is really my goal for this space. I want to be inspired to work in there and read a book on a rainy Sunday, rather than gluing myself to the couch and binge-watching Bravo {although there will be plenty of that, too}. We haven't had a TV in our room in 5 years and it's so refreshing. Now if I can just figure out how to put my phone away before bed and keep it a media-free zone!
Lastly, I will accessorize with pops of pale pink and greens in the form of rugs, plants and throw pillows and blankets. I also love the idea of doing a large floating shelf above the bed like the picture below and adding my own unique artwork.
Can't wait to show you the finished product! Framing just went up last week so it was fun to see the size of the space. We also have a large walk-in his/hers closet as well as a bathroom going into that space so our master suite really will feel like a suite - it basically is the entire left wing of the house!
